The LBJ Women’s Campaign School hosted its first-ever Lone Star Legacy Reception this September, bringing together Founder’s Circle members, alumni, and friends to celebrate the leadership and public service of Senator Joan Huffman and Representative Senfronia Thompson.

With their proven track records of advocating for women and their histories of passing meaningful legislation that positively impacts Texans across our state, the LBJ Women’s Campaign School was proud to recognize Senator Huffman and Representative Thompson for their leadership and trailblazing.

“Senator Huffman and Representative Thompson have each made a lasting impact on Texas through their years of public service, and we were honored to celebrate their contributions at our Lone Star Legacy Reception,” said Advisory Council Chair Jenifer Sarver. “Their leadership reminds us of the difference women can make when they step forward to serve their communities. We are proud to recognize their work and the example they have set for the many who will follow in their footsteps.”

This event was a reflection of the LBJ Women’s Campaign School’s commitment to supporting women in the political arena. As a bipartisan program, we believe our differences make us stronger. From the very start, we have brought women and speakers from across the political spectrum together because we believe those differences can create unique learning opportunities – and remind us that we are stronger together. When our alumni go on to win elections and lead in their communities, we celebrate not only their campaign wins, but also the power of a program that equips women to work across the political spectrum and succeed.

“We train leaders to be like Senator Huffman and Representative Thompson: to run strong campaigns, be champions of change in their communities, and work across the aisle to get things done. Senator Huffman and Representative Thompson are great examples of what that kind of bipartisan work can look like, which is why we are proud to celebrate them,” said LBJWCS Executive Director Hope Osborn.

We are grateful to Raise Your Hand Texas for welcoming us and allowing us to host this special evening. We also extend a special thank you to Leslie Ward and AT&T, the Texas Chemistry Council, and Tito’s Vodka for helping make the night possible.

We look forward to continuing to train and support the next generation of leaders across Texas. To support us in our work, join the Founder’s Circle today!
